Induction 2017 - 18

Reception class (September 2017)

Information for parents: Induction arrangements

Welcome to Hoole St Michael Primary School!

Induction Meeting: Wednesday 17th May 2017 (6.30pm)
We are holding a meeting for parents of new starters to outline induction arrangements in greater detail and also to provide you with further information about our school. You will also get the opportunity to meet the key staff members who will be working with your child during their first year in school.  Representatives from Kids’ Club (our before and after school club), the school nurse and members of our PTFA ('The Friends of Hoole St Michael') will also be at this meeting to answer questions, plus you will be given the opportunity to sample some of our school dinners! Please try and come along. If you are unable to attend, please contact school and an information pack will be sent to you.

Taster Sessions
In order to prepare your child for life in school and a comfortable September start, we would like to invite them to attend some taster sessions. The dates for these sessions are as follows:

Wednesday 7th June    1.30pm - 3pm  Parents invited to stay for whole session
Wednesday 14th June   1.30pm - 3pm  Parents invited to join 'Story and Rhyme' session from 2.45pm
Wednesday 21st June    1.30pm - 3pm  Parents invited to join 'Story and Rhyme' session from 2.45pm
Wednesday 28th June  1.30pm - 3pm  Parents invited to join 'Story and Rhyme' session from 2.45pm
Wednesday 5th July 1.30pm - 3pm  Parents invited to join 'Story and Rhyme' session from 2.45pm

Throughout the first session on Wednesday 7th June, you are invited to remain with your child in a ‘stay and play’ session. During all other sessions, your child can be left with the Reception class teacher and teaching assistant. Each session ends at 3pm, but from 2.45pm each week, the class teacher will lead a ‘story and rhyme’ time. You are invited to join your child for ‘story and rhyme’ each week. Please do not arrive earlier than 1.30pm as we will still be registering our current reception class and organising our children into their new classes throughout the school.

Our Reception staff will be arranging to meet your child prior to their first taster session on Wednesday 7th June either by visiting your child at home or by visiting your child in their nursery setting. You can decide which type of visit you prefer. We will be organising home or nursery visits between Thursday 18th May and Friday 26th May. All information regarding home/nursery visits is on the letter which is being sent to parents of all new starters.

If you wish to contact school, you may of course phone at anytime. You can also contact the headteacher using the e-mail address listed at the beginning of the letter. Ms Barlow, our school business officer, is also contactable via the school details above and also by e-mail bursar@hoole.lancs.sch.uk.

We would also like to invite you to our ‘Friends of Hoole St Michael’ Summer Fair on Saturday 1st July (1pm start) where lots of fun activities will be taking place and will give you the opportunity for you and your family to meet the children and staff of Hoole St Michael. We are also holding our annual sports day during the morning of Wednesday 21st June to which you are warmly invited. New starters are invited to take part in a new starter race.

Finally, may I take opportunity to say how much the staff of our school is looking forward to working in partnership with you over the next few years; ensuring that your child will enjoy, achieve and flourish during their time with us.
